흙을 가지고 물레를 돌려 작품을 만들어나가는 과정은 수많은 제약을 통해 이루어진다.

“이렇게 하면 안 된다.” 혹은 “반드시 이렇게 해야 한다.” 는 기술적인 토대 위에서 많은 것이 이루어 진다.

이러한 제약은 생각하거나 표현하는 데에도 개입이 되고는 한다.

기법으로 포장된 많은 제약들과 그릇을 바라보는 보편화된 시각들은 결국 나에게 선입견을 갖게 하였다.

그리고 선입견은 상상력을 제한하게 한다. 난 선입견을 깨고 상상력을 펼칠 수 있는 기회를 찾고 싶었다.

난 이런 경험을 하고는 한다. 집안에서 물건을 잃어버렸을 때의 일이다.

집안을 세 번, 네 번 뒤집어 보지만 찾는 물건을 나타나지 않는다. 다섯 번쯤 뒤져볼 때쯤 물건은 서랍 잘 보이는 곳에서 나타난다.

당연히 그곳에는 없을 거라는 생각 때문에 찾을 수 없었던 것이다.

당연히 그럴 것이라는 생각에서 자유로워진다면 서랍을 여는 일은 새로운 일이 될 수 있다.

내부의 공간이 직관적으로 보이지 않는 합을 통해 보이지 않는 그곳에 나의 다양한 상상력을 구현해보았다.

나의 작품들을 통해 당연히 그럴 것이라는 선입견에서 잠시나마 자유로워지기를 바란다. –송민호-

The technical bases of “connnots” and “musts” tend to be intervened in thinking and making.

These technical constrains and people’s universal perspectives of dishes cause preconception in making m work.

Preconceptions bring limit to imaginations. I hope to find an opportunity to break the preconceptions and to unfold the imaginations.

There was an incident where I had lost an object at home.

I had looked all over the house three to four times but the object did not come up.

The object came up later inside a drawer; at an obvious place.

It was the natural thought of assuming that the object would not be there which caused such rummage.

When we are free from these natural thoughts, the opening of drawers can become something new.

I tried to materialize diverse imaginations in the inner space of the containers; a space that is not visible intuitively.

Through my work, I hope to set free the natural through of preconception –Song,min-ho-
